About Us

Mission

Lindfield Evangelical Free Church was founded in 1911 and has sought to be a faithful witness to the good news of Jesus Christ ever since.

We are a welcoming group of Christians from a wide variety of backgrounds and ages who are united around the gospel message. A small but growing congregation, our mission is simply to be obedient to the Bible's call not to neglect to meet together, to make disciples, to care for one another, then to be salt and light in our local community.

We regularly meet together to hear the preaching of God's word, sing hymns and spiritual songs, share the Lord's supper, pray together, and study the Bible. Our main priority on a Sunday is to become more and more familiar with the voice of our good shepherd, Jesus. We do this through a Bible-saturated worship service, focused on the preaching of God's word, longing to feast on that word, the true bread from heaven - even Jesus himself. We believe that a godly church is an effective church and that He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion; equipping us to join Him in the work He is doing in Lindfield.

Our Sunday services begin at 10:30am every Sunday morning. Each service last for about one hour and 15 minutes, and anybody is welcome to join us. The Lord's Supper is open to any who profess faith in Christ. Between March and October we also meet once a month on a Sunday evening for a communion service, beginning at 6:30pm.

We also aim to reach out to our local community with the good news about Jesus. We seek to witness personally and corporately as a church. We do this with special events throughout the year, as well as through our 'Tots Club' playgroup every Friday during term time.

Children

Children are very welcome in our worship services. We believe that promises like that of Isaiah 55:10-11 apply equally to children and adults. Therefore, we preach to all ages and seek to ensure that our sermons can be understood by young and old alike. We provide worksheets to help children engage with the sermon, designed to guide them through the message, it also gives them something to talk about with their parents afterward. Children do not need to sit still or be completely quiet  - parents please do relax - but for the very young there is a space outside the main hall you can take pre-schoolers should you wish. The sermon will also be fed into this room so you can still listen.

We invite any who profess faith in Jesus to join us in worship, discipleship, and mission. Those who would not yet call themselves 'Christian' are also very welcome to spend time with us, learning what it means to be saved from sin and to righteousness, through faith in Jesus, and all that he has done for you in his perfect life, atoning death and hope-giving resurrection.

LEFC is also a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
